Inverters play an important role in home energy storage systems. An inverter is an electronic device used to convert direct current (DC) electrical energy into alternating current (AC) electrical energy for use in household appliances or for injection into the grid.
Connection of the energy storage system: the inverter is connected to the solar PV system and the battery system to receive the DC electrical energy from the PV panels and the battery and convert it into usable AC electrical energy. It acts as a bridge between the solar PV and battery systems and the household electricity system.
Energy management and optimisation: the inverter has an energy management function that monitors the flow of energy in the home and optimises it according to demand.
Power Backup: The inverter can convert the power stored in the batteries into AC power to provide backup power for the home.
Grid interaction (optional): the inverter can also interact with the grid. When the home's electricity demand exceeds that of the PV or battery power, the inverter can automatically draw additional power from the grid. At the same time, when the PV or battery power exceeds the home's electricity demand, the inverter can inject the excess power into the grid.
